Gibraltar 1p Barbary Partridge Coin

Estimated Value: 0.78

Ever since 1988 Gibraltar, a British overseas territory bordered by Spain, has been minting its own coins. The coins, likewise to many British coins, are minted in cupro-nickel which is an alloy of copper that contains nickel.

The Barbary partridge is the national bird of Gibraltar and is native to North Africa; it is a game bird similar to a pheasant that can only fly for short distances.

The design of the Barbary Partridge on the Gibraltar 1p is iconic and similar in style to the ‘Gibraltar Monkey 5p‘, and although not technically legal tender in the United Kingdom it is not unusual to see Gibraltar coins over here from people spending vacations there or in Spain.

With an estimated value of £0.78 this coin is great value for those looking to start their own coin collections!
