The Royal Mint issued the Alfred the Great £5 in 2021 to commemorate the Anglo-Saxon king. This article focuses on the Gold Proof version, which is a precious-metal commemorative coin.
Gold Proof details
The Royal Mint lists the Gold Proof £5 as a limited edition of 160. A separate silver Proof issue and silver Proof Piedfort were also available, so do not combine their production figures or prices.

Assessing value
Gold content, condition, authenticity, packaging and collector demand all affect resale value. Compare recent completed sales of the same Gold Proof version. The original issue price and a dealer’s asking price do not guarantee what the coin is worth today.
